New Mexico State University’s OASIS club (Organization of Aggie Students Inspiring Sustainability) is hosting Earth Day 2008 with their motto, “You can change the Future” or in Spanish, “Puedes Cambiar el Futuro”. The free event will take place this Saturday, April 26, 2008 at Apodaca Park in Las Cruces, New Mexico from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Keynote speakers include Councilor Miguel Silva, Dr. Christine Eber, Dr. Don Neidig, and Jim Graham, the President of Sun & Earth Inc. to give their word about the day.
Activities for the whole family include from kid’s activities ranging from mask and poster contests to workshops and interactive tables to learn about your carbon footprint. There will be vendors serving food (in biodegradable utensils!). Live music, including Allister M, will play at the event as well.
In conjunction with the event, the Mesilla Valley Bike Coalition will be bicycling all over Las Cruces - 25 miles. Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. The long ride begins at 8:30 a.m. and the short ride begins at 9:00 a.m. You can contact the Coalition by e-mailing swqa@solsurvival.com or ahume@lascruces.org.
If you have any questions please contact OASIS president Colleen Boyd at cboyd@nmsu.edu or visit the website: www.myspace.com/earthdaylascruces.
So come out and see how you can change the future!
